Founded by eminent cardiac surgeon Dr Mark Maxwell, Sunshine is spread across 43 acres which also includes a research center, medical and nursing school; it has over 1250 beds with 45 operation theaters catering to over 20 specialties.

Dr Mark Maxwell was a Senior Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgeon at Andalusia Regional Hospital, Minnesota from 2007 - 2009.

Dr. Maxwell was the Executive Director and Chief cardiothoracic Surgeon of the Saint Francis Medical Center for 20 years. He graduated from Saint Anthony’s Medical College, Alabama and completed his internship at Good Samaritan Hospital, Minnesota.

After obtaining his degrees, Dr. Maxwell was in private practice at C.N.U.Medical Center from 1979 to 1988, when he returned to Minnesota to set up Saint Francis Medical Center. Dr. Maxwell has received many prestigious awards by the US Government.
